A platform for holistic management of the rehabilitation and preservation of historic and monumental buildings
What is capacity
CAPACITY will create a semantic software platform for the holistic management of the recovery and preservation of historic and monumental buildings. Semantic software technology allows content to be associated with one or more concept maps in which categories of objects, abstractions of the database, are placed in logical relationship with one another (linked-data). Concept maps are machine-readable, i.e., represented through formal models and thus processable by software. This makes it possible, for example, to search the contents of a database by meaning and by implications between meanings. In more detail, the strategy followed within CAPACITY will be based on the extension of BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology, for the specific purpose of adapting it to the peculiarities of historic sites, associating with it categories of objects and conceptual maps that describe the views of the different disciplinary domains on the management of the recovery and conservation of historic and monumental buildings.
What is proposed
Main result of the CAPACITY project is the prototype of an HBIM (Heritage-BIM) model, an extension of the traditional BIM model based on a library of classes having the purpose of describing building elements and materials used in construction and by the construction industry.
